Coverage should represent relevant context and significant perspectives fairly. People facing serious allegations should normally have a meaningful opportunity to respond. Confidential sources require careful verification and restricted handling.
News, opinion and interests
News, analysis, opinion and future paid material should be labelled so audiences can distinguish them. Editorial contributors should disclose conflicts that could reasonably affect their work.
Images, video and AI assistance
Visual material should be authentic, appropriately licensed, credited and not misleadingly altered. AI assistance must not replace human editorial responsibility, invent evidence or obscure material uncertainty; significant use should be disclosed when relevant.
Privacy, minors and public interest
Reporting should weigh public interest against foreseeable harm, especially where children, vulnerable people, grief, trauma or private information are involved. Identifying details should be limited when publication is not justified.
Independence, corrections and accountability
Editorial decisions should not be improperly influenced by commercial or personal interests. Significant errors should be corrected transparently, with revisions and correction notices recorded through the newsroom workflow.
